The Red Carnation Hotel Collection got its start in the early 1950s with the opening of a few hotels in South Africa. Today, it comprises 17 luxury properties in Ireland, South Africa, Switzerland, the U.K. and the U.S. In 2020, the company plans to add Botswana's Xigera Safari Lodge to its portfolio.
